5 classic items you need in your wardrobe

I’m all about comfy fashion, but it’s even better if you can build a wardrobe that is effortlessly fashionable whilst still feeling confident. These are my top five fashion items that never seem go out of style and are just as practical as they are gorgeous. They’re the ones worth spending some extra cash on and going for quality because you will be able to wear them over and over again.

Trenchcoat

A trench coat goes with everything. Over a shirt and jeans, a dress, a skater skirt and jumper. It’s great for the transition from Summer to Autumn and Winter to Spring, so you can use it all year round and it will never ever go out of style. Personally, I’d go for a classic beige coat like this one from ASOS or this one if you prefer a statement piece.

Little black dress

Another piece that we all need in our wardrobe is that essential little black dress. Going out for dinner with friends? LBD. Cocktail party? LBD. Need something to wear on a date? LBD. Dress it up with heels, or down with a scarf, some woolly tights and leather boots. Depending what style you like wearing, you could go for bodycon, skater or maybe something with an open back? Choose the one you feel comfortable and confident in.

We love this bodycon one from Topshop. Or if you prefer something a bit longer, a midi dress is always flattering because it tends to bring you in at the best places! Check out this one from Missguided.

Black court heels or a pair of statement pumps

This depends on whether or not you like heels. I don’t wear heels much unless it’s for something fancy, like a posh dinner or a nice party. But, a good pair of black patent court heels are a classic. They go with everything and will forever look classy. Can’t go wrong with a pair like this from ASOS.

If you aren’t a fan of heels, then grab a statement pair of flats or comfy shoes. Stick to black to make sure they go with everything, but don’t be afraid to try new styles. Loathes, ballet pumps or brogues.

Leather jacket

Another timeless jacket like the Trenchcoat and perfect for the season transitions. I bought a brown leather jacket from Mango about 8 years ago and it is still gorgeous and totally in trend- Every. Single. Year. If you also go for a leather or decent faux leather one it will last you years. Something like this from ASOS might seem expensive but trust me, you’ll get the wear out of it.

Chunky knit wool jumper

The ultimate comfort and the most effortless outfits are made with a cosy jumper. It looks trendy with a nice pair of jeans or acts as a blanket when you have that sniffly cold in December. Most importantly, of course, it keeps you warm.

If you’re lucky you might even be able to get away with going around without a bra on. I love my jumper from Toast, but I recently got a cheaper but still adorable comfy jumper from New Look for under a tenner – you can get it in lots of different colours and I love it.
