5 lipstick shades all girl bosses need

Being in a competitive industry can be tricky at times but if there’s one way to show off your confidence it’s a perfect lip. If you’re going to be a girl boss then you may as well look the part. We’ve got 5 shades to inspire you to glam it up at work.

The red one

Let’s start with the obvious. Nothing screams Girl Boss louder than a sassy red lip. Go for something bright and outrageous. Not only do reds imply confidence, they are a great colour to whack on early in the morning. They give the impression you made an effort, even if you just rolled out of bed 10 minutes prior. My favourite is Nars’ Velvet Matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl.

In the nude

Not ready to make the commitment to the red – how about a classic nude? Easier to wear but still super stylish.  This “my lips but better” option will definitely give you that casual – but I still totally put lipstick on look. Check out Rimmel’s Kate Moss nude collection – you’re sure to find one that suits your complexion. Also, you won’t end up with obviously smudged lippy after a messy lunch!

Perfectly pink

If you’re like me and like a in-between option, pink is a good choice. It’s more obvious than nude, but not as much of a statement as red. There are a million different shades of pink, so you can experiment with the colours, undertones and formulas. A good choice is Mac’s Crème Cup; it certainly brightens up my appearance on duller days.

Brown is the new black

You can always opt for a very on trend brown. Your lips won’t look out-of-place on a vogue cover – or your office. Show your hip side with a mid tone brown like the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in Dubai or Berlin.

Stand out in purple

Try a purple, if you really want to shake things up. Purples are super fun and suit so many different skin tones. If you’ve never tried a purple before, start off with a subtle mauve such as Bobbi Brown’s Rich Lip Colour in Plum Rose. If you want to be more daring, consider Makeup Revolution’s classic range, which consists of some lovely purple shades. At only a £1 per lipstick, you can experiment, and it won’t  break the bank!
