When you work full-time, trying to balance everything going on outside of work can be difficult. Especially when it comes to relationships. Getting a good work/life balance is crucial. I am going to share my top tips on how to achieve this!
Take time out of your day to see how their day is going
When you’re in a relationship, it’s easy to not check your phone while you’re at work and before you know it, 6-7 hours have passed and you haven’t even said hello. It’s a good idea to get into a routine of sending a ‘good morning’ text every morning to let them know you’re thinking of them. Even an ‘I’m really busy but I hope you’re having a nice day’ text goes a long way.
Arrange a date night once a month
Working full-time often leaves you feeling shattered by the time the weekend arrives and you either spend the entire time partying or staying at home and relaxing. Although relaxing is my favourite, especially with my partner, it’s a nice treat to go for a date night once a month. This way, you can spend time relaxing but maybe in your favourite restaurant or at the cinema. A trip to the arcades is a winner for me every time!
When your working day is over don’t think about work!
As soon as you get home from work, it is time to unwind for the night. Leave your work and troubles at the office and spend some ‘you’ time or time with your partner. Switch off from work mode and save that thinking for tomorrow. Now is your time to enjoy the rest of your night and catch up with your fave tv shows and find out the latest gossip from your friends.
Make time for your social life
If you are single, make sure work doesn’t consume you. Make sure you see your friends and family on a regular basis, also making sure you enjoy yourself at the weekend with a cocktail or two! If you’re looking to meet someone, one of the best ways is to keep active as you may find someone who enjoys all the same hobbies as you! Hooray!
Find a balance
Don’t let relationships come before work and don’t let work come before relationships. Your significant other is important but so is your career. Reply to text messages when you are caught up with work. You can always call them in your lunch hour. Don’t let work stop you from communicating effectively. Learn to check your phone when you have completed a task. Tell yourself you can only look at your phone when you’ve finished your to-do-list!
