The guide to a quick workout

Workout gym fitness health running

Working out can be hard enough without having to run on the treadmill for a good hour. But the good news fairy is here to tell you that you can stay fit and healthy, and not have to give up half your day to do so. Here are some great tips on getting fit quick.

Couch to 5k

This is a free app that eases you into running. It consists of an 9 week training plan, where you are guided through a set of small runs three times a week.

By the end of the 9 weeks you should be able to run 5k without stopping. And let me tell you, it’s fab. You can choose between 4 different virtual coaches (mine is Jo Wiley), who give you support and encouragement as you run.

You can do this outside or on a treadmill and they runs don’t least anymore than half an hour. Win win.

Spin class

Spinning is a great way to stay fit and healthy. The classes are usually no longer than an hour and consist of you sitting on a spin bike and working out with an instructor.

The reason why this is such a great class is because you work to the best of your ability. Adjusting your bike speed accordingly.

To find out where the local spinning classes are near you download the Move GB app, It tells you where you can find gym classes near you without having a gym membership.

30 day ab challenge app

This is another great app to get you in shape without having to leave your house.

It eases you into doing 4 different exercises a day, with the number of reps you have to do increasing as you make progress.

The app is free and can be accessed from the app store, and is definitely something that is easy to do whilst the weather is getting colder.

Park run

These are free 5k races held every Saturday all across the country. It’s a timed run where hundreds of people take part to try to beat their previous times.

The Park run is a relaxed atmosphere allowing anyone if all ages to take part and get fit. The runs take place in beautiful settings and encourage anyone of any age or ability to take part, and you don’t even have to run.

Many people turn up and walk round. Just a great way to get you fit this winter. To find your nearest Park run click here.
