It’s cold and dry skin and chapped lips are back with a vengeance. It’s very rare that I get chapped lips but this year it doesn’t seem to be stopping. As a liquid lipstick lover, I thought I would give you the rundown of the best lipsticks that are still matte without drying your lips out as well as the saviours that have saved my chapped lips.
For lipstick, I found that the Maybelline Colour Sensation matte lipsticks are one of the best to combat dry lips.
They have so many colours to choose from so you won’t feel stuck for choice. I have at least 6 shades of these and I use them all the time.
If you want to stick with a liquid lipstick, the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks are a non-drying lipstick saviour. For me, these are light as anything on the lips and are one of my all-time favourite liquid lipsticks.
When it comes to caring for your lips, it’s all about scrubs and lip balm. For lip scrubs, there are so many different styles.
The Lush lip scrubs are one of the best smelling and tasting lip scrubs. This sounds odd but yes, if you accidentally eat a bit of these lip scrubs, you won’t regret it. From bubblegum to popcorn, they do a wide selection.
You don’t need a lot to get soft lips and remove some of that dead skin from your lips. I normally apply a bit before lipstick early in the morning and my lips are sorted until the next day.
E.l.f also have their own range of exfoliators. They are in a lipstick style so they help to avoid any mess and they stop you from applying too much to your lips. They have a range of different scents but my favourite has to be the sweet cherry. Especially in the colder months.
If you want to go all out and give your lips a pamper, pick up one of these Yes To Coconut 2 step lip kits. This a treatment that works to nourish your lips.
With a lip scrub to exfoliate the dead skin away and a lip mask to add the moisture back, they are the perfect combo for getting your chapped lip worries away. Packed with coconut and sugar, these are the best bits to care for your lips.
If you’re after a good lip balm, there seems to be a battle going on between two. You are either a Carmex or Vaseline lover. As a lover of anything with cherries, I thought Carmex would be right up my street but I am a true Vaseline lover.
I can’t get enough of it, I don’t apply a lot. I normally apply this the minute I wake up and a few times throughout the day depending on whether I’m wearing lipstick or not.
My main tip is to apply just a little bit before I go to bed. This is a trick for all year round as it allows your lips to be hydrated and if you are going to a hot country or the UK weather is warm for once, it’ll stop your lips from crumbling the second you wake up.
Let me know what your lip saviours are in the comments,
