Flying out of the country is basically a must nowadays. Who doesn’t love posting a quick snap of themselves at the airport with the caption ‘I catch flights not feelings’.
Unfortunately, these flights may cost more than we would wish to pay and can be off-putting at times. Hopefully these tips will help you to save money when paying for these flights making them more affordable.
If you like to travel and you haven’t heard of Skyscanner, I’m not sure where you’ve been. Skyscanner is a popular site used to find cheap flights. You can also use it to find hotels and car hire. It’s basically a search engine for flights. It takes away the hassle of having to trawl through multiple sites to find the flight with the price that suits you.
Sites like Groupon and Wowcher have some amazing travel deals. They sometimes do some amazing package deals as well and when you speak to the travel companies you can often do some negotiating and get yourself an even better deal than advertised.
Book in advance
If you know you definitely plan to go on holiday why not book your flights well in advance. Spontaneous holidays can be exciting but booking your holiday in advance can get you some amazing deals and allows you flexibility with payments.
Often, they’ll allow you to pay a minimal deposit and then you can pay the rest in instalments in a timeframe suiting you.
Companies often run seasonal deals such as Boxing Day deals and if you’re not in a rush to jet off, why not wait till the airlines are offering deals and then grab yourself a bargain.
Travelling in the off-peak season can often save you money as airlines are desperate for customers. The peak seasons tend to be the school holidays as the airlines know many people tend to travel during these periods.
If you don’t have to travel in the school holiday periods, I would advise you not to. You’ll be surprised how much money you can save and if you’re visiting a popular destination it’ll be a lot less busy which may be an added bonus for you.
Hopefully you’ll now be able to save yourself some money when booking your next flight. Remember to never feel pressured to accept the price offered. They may tell you that time is running out or they have limited seats but often this isn’t true.
At the end of the day, they want your money so sometimes you actually have the upper hand. Make sure to leave any tips you have for finding cheap flights!
