Adulthood Real Issues Sex

Yes I’m a girl and yes I watch porn

The Growing Up Guide sex relationships bed woman

We live in a very backward society. It’s hard to be in a society that has strict conservative views on one topic and not the other. We aim to embrace ourselves, and to some extent we do.

However, we refuse to admit that women watch porn.

You try to have an open conversation with someone about it and most of the time you can expect a laugh and a smirk without anyone taking you seriously.

It’s surprising to me why people wouldn’t be accepting of this, but it’s a wider issue than people just not understanding.

The first part comes from this odd shared consensus that women shouldn’t watch porn. The porn industry is created for men and women following all main sexual fantasies. If the porn industry can aim to please both men and women why aren’t we on board with this?

It’s a weird idea to think we reject something that can cause someone pleasure. Why does it matter if a woman or a man is watching porn, anyone who can answer that question with a sensible answer let me know.

The next is why do we smirk at someone wanting to please themselves, why do we suppress someones ability to experience sexual pleasure.

I think this stems back from an issue bigger than pornography, the issues of patriarchy go further than porn does and it’s clear there is still an influence here. Should we aim to please everyone else and suppress what we want? Hell no!

It’s hard to understand why you wouldn’t want someone to experience pleasure. It’s a natural thing. To me feeling that pleasure changes you as a person, you experience something different and it brings a new sense to you.

What a lot of people don’t seem to understand is the openness pornography allows for someone, whether it’s in a relationship or not. Having that ability to be open and explore your fantasies and desires.

Society is changing, we’re allowing more sexual freedom and finally, women don’t have the pleasing role all the time. We can be our own person and explore our bodies.

It’s remarkable in today’s society with the current issues we’re facing that this is one I have to stand up for.

As a 20-year-old woman, I never expected to be talking about why I watch pornography and why it’s OK that I do so. There are more trivial issues at hand but this has to be mentioned. It is only right we move forward mentioning this issue.

Let us know what you think of this topic.  Embrace body positivity and get ready to finally open up more about our sexual lives. It doesn’t have to be a golden circle time where we talk about our fantasizes but it’s time we allowed people to open up if they wanted to.
